Hi, I’m Amanda Saso.
Lifelong Wauwatosa resident and District 4 neighbor with deep roots in the community and a clear understanding of how city decisions affect neighborhoods, families, and local businesses.
Proven business and financial leader with experience managing budgets, contracts, compliance, and audited projects — from large-scale infrastructure work to running successful small businesses and a nonprofit organization.
Executive director of the Wauwatosa Historical Society, responsible for operations, fiscal stewardship, revenue generation, communications, and guiding the organization through major challenges, including historic flood recovery.
Collaborative community leader and volunteer, with over a decade of service on neighborhood boards, city commissions, PTO leadership, and local organizations — bringing a steady, practical, and people-first approach to problem-solving.
Key Values
Fiscal Responsibility & Accountability
I bring real-world experience managing complex budgets, contracts, and compliance — from large, government-audited infrastructure projects to nonprofit and small business operations. I believe in careful stewardship of public dollars, transparency in decision-making, and long-term financial sustainability.
Thoughtful Growth & Neighborhood Integrity
Wauwatosa can grow without losing what makes it special. I support responsible development that respects neighborhood character, holds developers accountable, and balances progress with preservation, walkability, and quality of life.
Hands-On, Community-Centered Leadership
I lead by listening, collaborating, and doing the work. Whether restoring the Little Red Store after historic flooding or strengthening community organizations, I bring people together to solve problems with care, clarity, and follow-through.
Wauwatosa is my home. I grew up here, attended Lincoln, Longfellow, and Wauwatosa East, and now raise my family here as a District 4 neighbor. My career and volunteer work have given me hands-on experience in business operations, budgeting, government compliance, project management, and community leadership — skills I use every day to serve Wauwatosa thoughtfully and responsibly.
A Background Rooted in Business & Accountability
I am a University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee graduate with a professional background that spans hospitality, entrepreneurship, construction engineering, historic preservation, and small business ownership.
I began my career with the Bartolotta Restaurant Group as a teenager and worked my way into senior team roles, gaining a strong foundation in operations, customer service, and financial discipline. My professional experience also includes living and working internationally in Germany and Canada, bringing a global perspective to problem-solving and collaboration.
As assistant construction engineer on the $1.8 billion Eastern Alberta Transmission Line (EATL) project, I managed change control and cost estimates across $925 million in contracts and supported projects subject to government audit and compliance. This work required precision, transparency, and careful stewardship of public and private dollars — experience directly applicable to city governance.
Leadership at the Wauwatosa Historical Society
As executive director of the Wauwatosa Historical Society, I oversee historic properties, collections, and operations while ensuring strong fiscal management and long-term sustainability. My role includes budgeting, compliance, revenue generation, and communications. I am also responsible for increasing the visibility and impact of the organization.
I led the successful recovery and reopening of the Little Red Store following historic flooding, restoring operations and revenue while coordinating with city staff, contractors, and community partners. Through this work, I also participate actively in the Wauwatosa Village Business Improvement District, supporting a vibrant and walkable Village.
Entrepreneur & Community Leader
I am a small business owner and operator of:
Red Jacket Adjusting, an independent property adjusting firm
Linden & Company, a historic home renovation business
In addition to my professional work, I have spent more than a decade serving Wauwatosa through volunteer leadership:
Second-term Lincoln Elementary PTO board member (vice president, president, past president)
Vice president of the Wauwatosa Village Neighborhood Association (11 years)
Board member of the Wauwatosa Neighborhood Association Council
Member of the City of Wauwatosa Historic Preservation Commission
Finance Committee member of the Wauwatosa Woman’s Club
I am also the parent of three boys and deeply invested in safe streets, walkability, strong schools, and family-friendly neighborhoods.
A Steady, Practical Approach to Leadership
My work is guided by a belief in careful planning, clear communication, and collaboration. I bring a business-minded, detail-oriented approach to problem-solving — balancing growth, preservation, fiscal responsibility, and neighborhood character.
I am committed to preserving what makes Wauwatosa special while planning thoughtfully for its future, ensuring our city remains a place where families, businesses, and neighborhoods can thrive for generations to come.
