Community Leaders

Margaret Arney

State Representative; Wauwatosa Alderperson, District 18

Amanda Saso is an energetic and dedicated community leader. She is knowledgeable, committed, and gets things done. I wholeheartedly endorse Amanda - she will make a great Alderperson for District 4.

Carol Bannen

VP of Education, Wauwatosa Historical Society

I am a long time volunteer at the Wauwatosa Historical Society.  I have served on the Board with Amanda Saso and now regularly work with her in her position of Executive Director.  Amanda is dedicated to and believes in the mission of preserving and sharing the history of Wauwatosa.  Amanda is tireless, energetic and sees possibilities and solutions others may not.  She was born and raised in Wauwatosa. She knows people and can work with them to make things happen.

Amanda will be a great advocate for the residents of Wauwatosa in her District and for the City as a whole.

KAthy Causier

Chair, Wauwatosa Library Board; CHair, Wauwatosa Senior Commission

I first met Amanda when she asked to meet with me, her alderperson at the time, about some preservation projects for her home. Fast forward to working with her in her capacity as the executive director of the Wauwatosa Historical Society. While performing her typical director’s duties which include developing and working within a budget and maintaining an historic structure among other tasks, Amanda impresses me with her ability to create relationships between people, to see possibilities in problems, and most of all, to plunge into problems to find solutions rather than complaining about the problem. She has wonderful communication skills and is passionately devoted to Wauwatosa and its residents. Amanda will make a great representative for her District 4 neighbors and the City of Wauwatosa when you elect her as your alderperson!

Aletha Champine

CEO; Wauwatosa Alder, District 6

Community is so much more than a street you live on, or the name of a City. It is helping your neighbors when you are not asked, it means bringing people together over common interests, and working to celebrate simple moments with those around you.

Amanda Saso embodies community.

I have had the pleasure of knowing her since adolescence and have always known her to be inclusive and to work to ensure everyone’s needs are met the best they can be. Whether it is opening up her own house to others or working to grow some of the many organizations she serves, Saso has always worked to better her community.

I cannot imagine anyone better to serve on Wauwatosa’s Common Council. I am confident she will work to not only help Wauwatosa move into the future but also fight to preserve what we all love most about our community.

Kathy Ehley

Former Wauwatosa Mayor

I met Amanda when she first moved back to Wauwatosa and was immediately impressed with her. I remember thinking that I hope she considers running for office someday. She has continued to impress me with her intelligence, creative problem solving, communication skills, relationship building, and ability to lead in her role as Executive Director of the Wauwatosa’s Historical Society. I know she will use the same skills when she is elected Alder of the 4th District.

Jim Haertel

Chair, Wauwatosa Historic Preservation Commission

I wholeheartedly endorse Amanda Saso for Wauwatosa Alderperson. As the Chair of the Wauwatosa Preservation Commission, I have seen first-hand Amanda’s commitment to preserving our city’s history and the many treasures that make Wauwatosa special. I am constantly amazed by her energy and enthusiasm for our city. Her dedication was evident during the horrible flood of 2025. Her quick and decisive actions likely saved the Little Red Store in the Village of ‘Tosa. Please join me in preserving and promoting Wauwatosa by voting for Amanda Saso in the upcoming election.

Elsa Knysak

Executive Director, Friends of Hoyt Park & Pool

I am so proud to endorse Amanda Saso for District 4 Alderperson. She has shown time and time again that this community is at the heart of her work. From preserving and advancing the history of our city to rallying our community through the flood clean up efforts and her brilliant business acumen, Amanda reflects the very best of Wauwatosa. She shares my passion of bringing community together and building strong relationships. She has the passion, energy, and fire needed to represent the needs of all. I am excited to see what she can bring to District 4. I have full faith in her ability to dive in to the work, not be afraid to get into the deep end, and truly make a splash for all our neighbors!

Larry Kopperud

Treasurer, Wauwatosa NAC (Neighborhood Association Council)

Amanda Saso represents the ideals of integrity, service, and forward vision in her work as the Executive Director of the Wauwatosa Historical Society and in her numerous volunteer positions. As the ED of the WHS, she has been innovative in developing and improving the financial health of the organization. She revamped the WHS Speaker Series that is very well attended, improved the Mystery Series to include high school theater students, and developed more free and paid events, such as the Brews and Blooms beer garden on the historic Kneeland Walker House grounds. She has expanded and developed the depth and breadth of numerous other volunteer opportunities.

During the historic floods last summer, Amanda’s quick thinking and actions helped to reduce damage to the historic Little Red Store in the village. She spearheaded the remediation work to remove the inundated flood waters from the basement and prevent losing this beloved building. It was back to fully functional in record time.

I have worked with Amanda on the Wauwatosa Neighborhood Association Council for the last year. She has been an active member and has great insight and knowledge of Wauwatosa due to her involvement in business committees and has a vast network of community leaders. Amanda has shown that she has grasped the programs and current board work quickly and has brought great lateral thinking helping the board to expand their perspective looking for other possibilities or solutions for a better outcome. She was instrumental in revisiting and revising the mission and values of the NAC during our Organizational Review sessions.

Amanda has told me how happy she is living in the community that she grew up in and how she loves raising her family in Wauwatosa. Even with a busy schedule, she finds time to be active volunteering in the Lincoln PTO (past president), and the Wauwatosa Woman’s Club. I believe that as a visionary leader she would work hard as the District 4 Alderperson to address the challenges facing all Wauwatosa constituents.

Phillip Morris

Wauwatosa Police & Fire Commissioner; Wauwatosa School Board Member

I’m proud to support Amanda Saso for Wauwatosa Common Council for District 4 because she leads the way a true neighbor does. Leading with care, grit, and a deep respect for Wauwatosa’s past and future. Amanda doesn’t talk about problems and aimlessly vent about community frustrations. She drives straight to the source to find solutions and is not afraid to roll up her sleeves to participate in getting the job done. She has a tenured track record of doing just that, just see the Wauwatosa Historical Society, Lincoln Elementary PTO, WVNA, Wauwatosa NAC, the city historic preservation council, and numerous other places she has dedicated her time and attention.

Very few people I know care more about the health, history, and long-term wellbeing of Wauwatosa, and Amanda proves that through action, not words. I trust her with my children, my time, and my resources and I know she’ll bring that same integrity and commitment to every family and block she represents. Wauwatosa is better when people like Amanda step up, and District 4 will be in exceptional hands.

Jeff Roznowski

Former Wauwatosa Alderman

During the over 40 years I have lived in Wauwatosa – raising my family and serving as a community servant and Alderman – I have learned and observed two important factors that lead to success as a local leader: involvement in community activities that add to growth and vibrancy; and the ability to get “boots on the ground” and get things done. Amanda Saso is that rare individual that exceptionally demonstrates both qualities every day.  I ask you to join me in supporting her candidacy for Wauwatosa’s District 4 Alderperson.

Amanda understands and takes action on the values that are important to Wauwatosa, starting with history.  In her leadership role at the Wauwatosa Historical Society, she has evolved and given new life to educating us on our past and preserving it. I worked with her on a new sign at the Little Red Store, but her vision is expanding this one sign into historic walking tours, including our often-forgotten indigenous history. She almost singlehandedly saved and restored the Little Red Store from last year’s devasting floods.  She has restored properties.  She has introduced a new brand, and new people, to our historical society. Action is what Amanda will bring to the Common Council.

But Amanda also understands the value we place on our neighborhoods in her leadership role on the Neighborhood Association Council.  She understands the value we place on our schools as a PTO President. She brings people together to enjoy everything Tosa has to offer and to work to make our community even better.  And she does it with words that are thoughtful, creative, constructive, and collaborative, but also words that translate into action.

I am deeply invested in the future of Wauwatosa and in the people who will lead us into a successful future. Amanda Saso is one of those leaders and I am very proud to endorse her for the role of District 4 Alderperson.

Kosta Zervas

Director, Wauwatosa Senior Centers

I am proud to endorse Amanda Saso as a candidate for District 4 Alderperson. As a lifelong Wauwatosa resident and District 4 neighbor, Amanda brings deep community roots, sound judgment, and a clear understanding of how city decisions affect residents, families, and local businesses.

Her proven leadership in business, finance, and nonprofit management—along with her role as Executive Director of the Wauwatosa Historical Society—demonstrates her ability to manage resources responsibly, lead through complex challenges, and steward public trust with integrity.

Amanda has also been a strong and collaborative partner with the Wauwatosa Senior Centers, showing genuine respect for older adults and a thoughtful understanding of the programs and services that support their independence, connection, and well-being. Her approach reflects careful listening, practical problem-solving, and a commitment to inclusive community decision-making.

With over a decade of service on neighborhood boards, city commissions, PTO leadership teams, and local organizations, Amanda leads with steadiness, empathy, and a people-first mindset. Wauwatosa will benefit from her experience, collaboration, and dedication to public service. She has my full support and enthusiastic endorsement.

What kind of person would take time to volunteer on a Friday night at a fundraiser for a school that her kids don't even go to? Amanda Saso. Without blinking. This is just one of countless examples of Amanda showing up for community, just because she cares so much about making it the best place it can be. As a new small business owner in the Tosa Village, I heartily endorse Amanda Saso for Alderperson. Her sleeves are already rolled up, and she will be an incredible advocate for small businesses, families, and residents across Wauwatosa.

Amanda Saso is exactly the kind of leader Wauwatosa needs. She’s engaged, approachable, and deeply invested in our community. She is a leader, and her first-hand experience in the service industry has led many of us to rely on her advice.

She has helped make this community stronger by being involved with Tosa schools and the Wauwatosa Historical Society and by attending events helping small businesses in the area. Her involvement in the school district indicates her heart is focused on what is best for everyone in the community.

Amanda Gintoft

Resident, District 4

I have the pleasure of knowing Amanda as a friend, a fellow volunteer, and a business owner. Amanda and I have volunteered together on the Lincoln PTO for several years, where she is deeply committed to living the PTO’s mission—building community and supporting both staff and students. She consistently goes above and beyond, generously giving her time and expertise, whether that means assembling more than 70 boxes of holiday cookies for staff each year or launching new fundraising initiatives that support the school year‑round.

As a friend, I also turned to Amanda for guidance when we began planning a renovation of our Wauwatosa home. I wanted to better understand the renovation process and how to preserve the home’s historical character. Through those conversations, Amanda and her husband stepped in through their general contracting business to manage our project. We have been thrilled with her expertise, thoughtful oversight, and ability to maintain both quality and budget throughout the renovation.

Amanda is a dedicated and passionate community leader, a collaborative listener, and a visionary problem solver. Wauwatosa is truly a better place because of her.

Kimberly Hoffman

Resident, District 4

Through her involvement, she tirelessly advocates for the best interests of our community. Amanda is an engaged leader who encourages and lifts up all who work with her. She cares deeply about Tosa and is a true asset to our city. I am pleased to be able to endorse Amanda Saso for our District 4 alderperson.

Sonja Mohr

Resident, District 4

I’ve known Amanda since she was in high school, and she’s always impressed me as a hard worker who is incredibly intelligent, open-minded, and energetic. When she moved back to Wauwatosa with her husband and young family and began her involvement in so many of the organizations here, our neighborhood became better from her presence and efforts. She wants her children to grow up in a vibrant and safe community, and is willing to work to make that happen.

Amanda Saso is the type of leader we need in Wauwatosa, a servant leader who can create community and a shared vision, and I encourage my fellow District 4 residents to support her with their votes.
